John W. Merrell b. 1815 Rowan Co, VA; d.1899. Married Elizabeth Stone b. 21 May 1821 possible Flat Creek, Bedford Co, TN; d. 27 May, 1914 Howard Co., AR. Their son, Elijah Merrell II m. Martha Jane Brinkley on 10 Feb 1866 in Hempstead Co., AR. ,daughter of William Richard & Nancy Emily Floyd Brinkley (my 2X great grandfather & 2X great grandmother).
Martha Jane Brinkley was previously married to Miles N. Ferguson, b. 14 Mar 1842 in Chattooga Co., GA. d. 1863 during the Civil War.
