MELBOURNE – James E. Miller, 66, of Melbourne died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at a Batesville hospital.
Born March 31, 1935, in Sidney, he was the son of James Calvin and Winnifred Westmoreland Miller. He was self-employed, having owned G.H. Miller & Sons for 45 years. He was elected to the Bank of Melbourne board in 1985 and retired from the board in 2000. He was a member of Melbourne First Baptist Church, Lions Club and Melbourne Masonic Lodge 141.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Pearce Miller; two sons, James Owen Miller and Kirk Miller, both of Melbourne; a daughter, Sharon Kay Miller Edwards of Mount Pleasant; two stepsons, Shad Pearce and Britt Pearce, both of Batesville; a sister, Doris Russell of Melbourne; five grandchildren, Andy Miller, Timmie Kay Edwards Skelton, James Richard Edwards, Abbi Leigh Miller and Nicholas Kirk Miller; and four stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Janet Kay Tomlinson Miller; and a sister, Mary Tate.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Melbourne First Baptist Church with Doyne Robertson officiating. Burial will be in Melbourne Cemetery under the direction of Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
Pallbearers are Eugene Barkesdale, Harlin Hames, Paul Gray Miller, Jerry Blankenship, Billy Wayne Yancey and David Miller.
Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Woods, Marc Miller, John Brown, Newt Blankenship, Owen Cooper, Delmas Caraway, John E. Miller and Jeffie Gillihan.
