Eliza G. Woods, who departed this life on the 3rd inst., was born in Bedford county, Tenn. June the 5th, 1809. She was married to Samuel F. Woods, deceased, in 1831, to whom were born eight children, four of whom are dead and four of whom are living with us, and are well and favorably known to our entire community. Aunt Eliza with her husband moved to Benton county, Ark. in 1833, making her a citizen of this county for 59 years, living all these years on the same place, about three miles east of Bentonville. She professed religion in her youth and united with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She, together with a few others, were organized by the Rev. Andrew Buchanan in 1833 into the Bentonville congregation of the C.P. Church and was always a consistent, active and useful member of the church of her choice and of the cause of Christ in general. In the early history of the C.P. Church in Benton county, in the days of camp meetings, it was her chief delight to labor and sacrifice with her husband for the success of those meetings, never tiring in their efforts to feed and sleep the great crowds who would come from a distance for the good of those meetings. A vast crowd of her kindred, neighbors and friends followed her remains to their last resting place; and felt, as they turned away, that a great and good woman, a noble christian character had fallen in our midst. P. Carnahan.
