TRAMMEL, Rena - (from Walnut Hill) Miss Rena Trammel was born in Tennessee July 30, 1838. She died June 22nd, being 86 years, ten months and 23 days old. Aunt Rena, as she was called, spent the greater part of her life in Benton county where she made a friend of all with whom she had any length of association. She remembered her Creator in her earthly days and lived a very pure, pious life. Yet she never united with any particular church. She lived for many years with her sister, Mrs. Joe Moore, and called that home, but did many years of service in Rogers in the early days of that city. She was longer in the Jones Hotel in Rogers than any other person who ever worked there. Since the death of her sister and in her declining years she has been cared for by her nephews and their families, who live east of Avoca. She had never married and had no family of her own, yet no one could have been better cared for in her old age than was Aunt Rena. Her life was spent in the service of the needy about her and a tale of distress and woe would take from her the last penny or the rest of many nights. She was laid to rest beside her eldest sister in the Snodderly cemetery. A short service was conducted by George Williams who remarked that he was burying the last caretaker of his infant and childhood days.- Written by request.
