Howard Arthur Kirkendoll 83, of Clinton passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2008. Born September 7, 1925, to Arthur and Jessie Kirkendoll, he was a local businessman, member and deacon of the Pee Dee Baptist Church for over 60 years. He was a WWII veteran where his name is inscribed on the Wall of Liberty in Normandy, France as one of the courageous Americans whose sacrifice and commitment led to the liberation of the continent of Europe.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Anna Bee Harness Kirkendoll, daughter Joyce Hester and husband Russell of Greers Ferry, two sons Gary Kirkendoll and wife Fran of Marshall, Terry Kirkendoll and wife Michelle of Clinton, ten grandchildren, Gretchen Hunt, Kim Circle, Kayla Sherman, Dara Hensley, Brent Hester, Brian Hester, Bart Hester, Natalie Horton, Jake Kirkendoll and Tyler Kirkendoll, twenty-two great - grandchildren, one brother Larry Kirkendoll of California, four sisters Ruth Isom of Clinton, Zeda Faye Wilson of California, Loretta Ming of Arizona and Louise Lewis of Little Rock.

The funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 27, 2008 at the Pee Dee Baptist Church in Clinton.

Preceded in death by parents Arthur Kirkendoll and Jessie Goldman Kirkendoll. Arrangements provided by Roller McNutt of Clinton.
