Opal Norman Newcomb was born April 22, 1919 in Fifty Six, Arkansas and died June 26, 2009 at age 90.

She was the daughter of Blain and Enola (Martin) Norman.

She was a born again Christian and became a member of the Church of God Prophecy.

Her children practically cut their teeth on the old wood church pews and slept on a pallet, sometimes barefoot during summertime revival services. Her children are forever grateful for the training they received.

She was a homemaker and loved Gospel singing. She attended several singing schools in the neighborhood learning to sing by shape notes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde; her parents, Blain and Enola (Martin) Norman; a daughter, Juanita Elms; two sisters, Mildred Lancaster and Angelene Norman (who died as a small child); two brothers, Howard Norman and her twin brother, Oris.

She is survived by her son, Jerry Blaine Newcomb and wife Pat and her daughter, Gail Kemp Vaughan and husband Harold all of Mtn. View; seven grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren and other loving relatives and friends.

Visitation is 4:30 - 6:00 p.m., Sunday, June 28, 2009 at Roller Crouch Chapel in Mtn. View.

Funeral service is 10 a.m., Monday, June 29, 2009 at Church of God of Prophecy in Mtn. View with Bro. Eddie Passmore, Bro. Dwayne Maynard and Bro. Don Wilson officiating with interment in Fifty Six Cemetery, Fifty Six, Arkansas.

Pallbearers are Randy Elms, David Elms, Kenny Kemp, Allen Newcomb, Steve Snyder and Brad Watson.
