Mr. Connie Mack Harper, age 72, died peacefully at home in Clinton, AR, May 23, 2011. He was born September 16, 1938, to the late W. H. “Hop” and Katie Alice (Bradley) Harper of Shirley, Arkansas.

After working for 20 years, Connie retired from the Arkansas State Highway Department. He was a deacon at Immanuel Baptist Church in Clinton, a carpenter, a farmer, and an outdoorsman.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Danise (Newman) Harper of Clinton: son, Terry Harper and wife Cheryl of Clinton; daughter, Darlene Harper Sowers of Conway; son, Paul Harper and wife Cheryl of Shirley; seven grandchildren: Shealyn, Hayden, Lauren, Kelli, Jay, Grant, and Weston along with one great-grand-daughter, Amelia, and one great-grandson due in August, his namesake, Conner McKenzie. As well, he is survived by five sisters and two brothers: Jean Brown Bradford and Billie Sue McKay of Shirley; Corine Williams and Maxine Bramlett of Clinton; Louise Williams of Alexandria, Indiana; J.D. Harper of Conway; and Henry Harper of North Little Rock. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary Jo Holderfield, formerly of Fremont, California; and one brother, Sherman Dale.

Visitation will be 5-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Clinton. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Clinton. Interment will follow at the Bradford Cemetery in Shirley.
