Clara Montine Tarkington, 93, of Guy, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, August 2, 2013. She was born in Guy, Arkansas on Monday, November 17, 1919 to the late John Jeremy and Minnie Viola (Langley) Stacks.
Mrs. Montine was a legend of Guy and member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her passion was quilting, sewing, and canning, but most of all her grandbabies were the light of her life.
Those left to mourn her passing are her four daughters; Bessie Bearden (Darrell) of Guy, Dessie Hart (Bobby) of Carlisle, MaeDean Bryant (James Watkins) of Guy, and Charlene Fortner (Mickey) of Vilonia; eleven grandchildren, David Bearden (Jane), Ricky Bearden, Cindy Lovingier (Billy) Christy Shirley (Paul), Natalie Jackson (Mike), Cathy Smith (Joe), Marty Powell (Debbie), Cherri Ferrell (Kenneth), Carrie Keeler (Jason), April Rooney (Patrick), Mitch Fortner (Celeste); twenty-four great- grandchildren and fifteen great-great-grandchildren; sister, Melba Bishop; brother-in-law, Henry Tarkington (Jessie) and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, William Cecil Tarkington; daughter, Joycelene Tarkington, brother, Melvin Stacks; sisters, Lennie Glover, Venna “Dee” Clendenin and Velma Tapley; son-in-law Jack Bryant and granddaughter, Cecelia Powell.
Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Guy. Burial will follow in Copperas Springs Cemetery with Bro. Tim Brewer officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 ~ 8:00 p.m., Monday, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier.
Pallbearers will be David and Ricky Bearden, Marty Powell, Mitch Fortner, Jason Keeler, Patrick Rooney, Corey Lovingier, and Kenneth Ferrell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Darrell Bearden, Bobby Hart, Mickey Fortner, James Watkins, Joe Smith and her great-grandsons.
