Harold E "Gene" Loyd, 65, of Alma, AR, died Tuesday, July 17, 2012 in a local hospital.
He was born December 7, 1946 in Ardmore, OK.
He was a Controller for Consolidated Printing in Van Buren, and served in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict. He attended schools in Van Buren, graduating from Fayetteville High School in 1964, attended Westark Junior College, and graduated from Arkansas Tech in 1973. He was a member and Deacon at Concord Baptist Church and served as interim pastor for several local Baptist Churches. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Edna Gunn Loyd, and father-in-law, Billy Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Loyd of the home; a daughter, Tanya Kirkendoll and husband Brian of Alma; a brother, Steve Loyd and wife Diana of Van Buren; a granddaughter, Ansley Kirkendoll of Alma; a sister-in-law, Pamela Mitchell and husband Rodney of Tulsa, OK; a brother-in-law, Bill Smith and wife Linda of Mulberry; a niece, Haley Hall and husband Brad of Van Buren; a nephew Mason Loyd of Van Buren; and a mother-in-law, Hazel Smith of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Bob Floyd, A.C. Vincent, Tony McMurray, Harold Maynard, John Hall, Ted Burkhart, Jimmy Don Floyd, and Wilford Arnold.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Concord Baptist Church.
