Emmett M. Cooper, 89 was born December 31, 1920 in Letona, Arkansas to the late Elbert and Pearley Cooper. In World War II, Mr. Cooper served his country in the United States Army Air Corp in the Pacific Theater. While in the Army Air Corp he was in the India-Burma, China Defensive, Air Offensive Japan Campaigns on Tinian Island. He was a small arms weapon mechanic, earned the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, World War II Victory Ribbon and 3 Bronze Service Stars. He was a retired carpenter having built many homes in the Searcy area. He was an avid sportsman who loved to hunt, fish and enjoyed playing with his chocolate Lab, Koko.

Mr. Cooper is survived by his wife, Zelma Cooper; two sons, Richard Cooper and Bethel Thurman; two grandchildren, Richard Cooper Jr. and Christopher Cooper; three great-grandchildren, James Cooper, Adam Cooper and Samantha Cooper; one aunt, Lola Howell of Pangburn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one child, Anthony Cooper and one great-grandson, Jeffery Joseph Cooper.

Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 5 at Sidon Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Roller-Daniel Funeral Home in Searcy.
