Joan Finley Raymond Holloway, 81, of Gassville, AR,
died Monday, October 7th, 2013, at home. She was born September 10, 1932, in Norfork, Arkansas, the daughter of Henry H. Dee Raymond and Maxine Finley Raymond.
She and her older sister, Pat, had many fond memories of their childhood growing up in Norfork, Melbourne, and Cotter, surrounded by grandparents, many aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends.
Joan graduated from Cotter High School, University of Central Arkansas (known then as Arkansas State Teachers College) in Conway, where she was a member of Alpha Sigma Tau sorority. Joan earned her Master's Degree from the University of Arkansas
in Little Rock.
Joan and Julian Holloway met in college and married following their Junior year. They lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma, briefly, then moved to Little Rock. Joan was an elementary school teacher in
Little Rock Public Schools for twenty years and for two years at The Anthony School. She also assisted her husband in their real estate
business and his work as an appraiser.
After her retirement, Joan and Julian moved back to Cotter, where Joan spent many years providing loving and tender care for her mother. Joan and Julian were married for nearly 50 years
before his death in 2001.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her sister, Pat Raymond Collier, niece Caitlin Collier and husband Dr. Ronald Moyer, nephew Marc Collier, and niece Joan Collier Philip and husband George Philip IV, grand-niece Kelsey Collier-Wise and husband Royce Miller, grand-niece Elizabeth Moyer and great-grand-niece Aurora Alice, her aunt and uncle Theo
and Hale Bibb, her sister-in-law Rosa H. Eason and family, and by many loving friends, including Anita Ortman Becker, Wanda Fielding,
and Mr. & Mrs. Darrel Stafford.
Joan was lovely, talented in singing and writing and very generous. Her family and friends will always remember her humor and wit. She will be in our hearts and in our wonderful memories of her.
Memorials made to made to: Walton Hill Cemetery Fund, Cotter City Hall, Cotter, Arkansas, or to the charity of your choice.
Visitation will be from 1PM to 2 PM Saturday October 12, 2013 at Roller Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2 PM at Roller.. Interment will follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Cotter.
Arrangements are under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.
