Marguerite Damron Jones, age 87 of Indialantic, Florida and Lakeview, Arkansas, died at her Overland Park, Kansas, home, surrounded by family and her beloved poodle Scarlet, Friday, October 11, 2013.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2013, in the Roller Chapel. Interment will be in Mountain Home Cemetery.
Marguerite was born in Denver, Colorado, on February 25, 1926. She grew up on a farm in Flippin, Arkansas, one of seven children born to Albert and Sylvia (Proctor) Damron. She was a graduate of Flippin High School.
Marguerite married Lon Jones of Mountain Home, Arkansas, in 1946. As a housewife, she devoted her life to her family. Marguerite also enjoyed reading, gardening, dancing and walking in the woods or on the beach. She attended a secretarial school and attended continuing education classes while working part-time as a secretary for the Pine Bluff Arsenal, Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and the Forest Service, Rolla, Missouri. Marguerite and her family retired in Lakeview, Arkansas, spending winters in Indialantic, Florida.
Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers: Jellybean, Gene, Junior (JJ) and Jack Damron, her husband Lon of 62 years and her son Jerry.
She is survived by three brothers: Delano and Marlene Damron, Gene and Arlene Damron both from California and Herbert and Dr. Renee Damron from Lake of the Ozarks; her daughter, Carol Jones, Olathe, Kansas; her son, John and Irish Jones, Atlanta, Texas, her daughter, Gail Jones, Paola, Kansas; six grandchildren: Karin and Derek Bohlken, Overland Park, Kansas; Aaron and Carrie Obermiller, Harrisonville, Missouri; Jared Obermiller, Harrisonville, Missouri; Eli and Genevieve Jones, New York, New York; Elizabeth and Kevin Burns, Houston, Texas; Angela and JD James, Olathe, Kansas; 13 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in her memory to Operation Wildlife, Linwood, Kansas, and the Humane Society, Mountain Home, Arkansas. Arrangements are by Roller Funeral Home.
