ELKINS — Jerry Paschal, 74, of Elkins, died Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at his home. He was born Sept. 13, 1937, in Winslow, Ark., to Jesse Vance and Bonnie Nickell Paschal.

He was a member of the Durham Freewill Baptist Church. Jerry was an ordained Freewill Baptist minister and served as pastor of the Brannon Mountain Community Church for some time.

Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served four years. In 1967 he reopened and operated the Durham grocery store with his wife for several years. He was a leading force in establishing the Mount Olive Rural Water Association.

Jerry was preceded in death by a son, Eddy Paschal; his parents, and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife Deloris Couch Paschal of the home, two sons: Robert Paschal and wife Clethia of Elkins, Ark., and Allen Paschal and wife Kathleen of Goshen, Ark.; a sister, Mary Ruth Sallee of Brannon Mountain, Ark.; and a brother, John Paschal of Fayetteville; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, in the Durham Freewill Baptist Church, Durham, Ark., with Mike Gabbard officiating. Burial will be in the Nickell Cemetery under the direction of Moore's Funeral Chapel.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10 at Moore's Funeral Chapel.
