LOWELL — Charles Henry Fowler, 79, of Lowell died Feb. 5, 2005, in Springdale. He was born March 30, 1925. in Maynard to Demps and Myrtle Cox Fowler. He was a diesel mechanic at Jones Truck Line until retirement in 1982 and was a member of First Baptist Church of Springdale. He served in the Army in World War II and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Teamsters Union. He enjoyed farming and hunting.

Survivors include his wife, Vera Lou Goree Fowler of the home, to whom he was wed Sept. 30, 1966; and two sisters, Vernell Freeland of Little Rock, and Helen Blackshire of Fayetteville.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale with the Rev. Tommy Bittner officiating. Burial will be in Bluff Cemetery with military honors by the Bella Vista Honor Guard Post 9063.

Pallbearers will be John Blakeshire Jr., Charles Brickey, George Anderson Jr., Bryon Freeland, Larry Graham and John Edster.

Visitation is 1 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, with family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m.

Vera Lou Fowler, 75, of Lowell passed away Aug. 21, 2005, at Springdale. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Fowler, her parents, Raymond and Helen Nail Goree and her only sibling, a sister, Patti Goree.

She is survived by Michele Graham-Jones, whom she loved and raised as a daughter, and several aunts, Claudia May Graham, Fern Bouse and Lucille Walker and Montez Nail. She is also survived by many cousins including Kay Bradley, Allison Pinkley, Melinda Halbert, Katelin Neal, Helena Jones, Larry, Don and Jerry Graham, Carl Nail, Dennis Walker and Christian Thompson.

She worked at Southwestern Bell prior to marriage and was a member of the First Christian Church in Springdale. She belonged to the Lowell Extension Homemaker's Club and volunteered on the Lowell Historical committee. She worked tirelessly on preserving the past through genealogy and helped write a book about the history of Lowell. She also helped in getting a monument erected to mark a historical site in her beloved town, Mudtown (Lowell).

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24 at Sisco Chapel in Springdale with the Rev. Rick Grace officiating. Burial will be in Buff Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Carl Nail, Larry Graham, Don Graham, John Blackshire Jr., Mike Bradley and Mike Byrd.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Walker and Jerry Graham.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Sisco Chapel. The family will be present from 6 to 7.
