Murder Charges filed in Shooting at Hunt:
Vernie Sanders, 39, of Hunt was charged Tuesday in Johnson Co., with the shooting death on Sunday of Bobby Ray Rosws, 36, of Hunt. Johnson Co., Sherieff Eddie King said the shooting took place at Ross home neat Horsehead Lake. Ross, an employee of /Boston Mountain Forestry Division, died of a gun shot wound to the chest from a 22 automatic rifle. He also was shot in the right leg, King said. Ross aparently also fired one shot from a single barrell shotgun. The suspect is being held in the Johnson county jail on $100,000 bond. The shooting was still under investigation at presstime. Born Dec 4, 1960(1950, in Johnson County, Ross, was the son of Vernard and Lona Qualls Ross. Her was an Army Veteran and a Baptist. Survivors include his wife, Bernetta Nichols Ross; a son, Johnny, and a daughter, Sara, both of the home; his parents , Mr and Mrs. Venard Ross of Hunt. a brother, Wayne Ross of Ozark, a sister, Tamy Elderof Ozark; and his grandparent, Mr & Mrs Velmar Qualls,of Clarksville. Funeral Services were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesdayat Liberty Hill Church, with Rev. Wayne Marker and Rev,George Farquhar officiating. Burial was in the Liberty Hill Cemetery, by Roller Cox Funeral Home.Source: Ozark, Spectator Dated 10/15/1987
