James A. Lowderback, 85, of near Junction City, Justice of the Peace in Jackson Township for the last 50 years, died in a hospital in Bernice, La., at 6 a.m. Thursday. He was a retired farmer and a Union County Road Commissioner. Mr. Lowderback was born in Junction City Feb.20, 1881, the son of Charles Samuel and Vivian Adams Lowderback. July 25, 1906 he married Miss Mary (Pinkie) Breazeal. Their 60th wedding anniversary would have been observed later this month. He was a Baptist and a member of the Junction City Masonic Lodge. Surviving are her widow, Mrs. Mary Lowderback; a son, James Crawford Lowderback of Shreveport; a daughter, Mrs. Gerald G. Kennedy also of Shreveport; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. He leaves several nieces and nephews. Funeral services have been announced for Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Pratt Funeral Home of Junction City. The Rev. C. P. Taylor will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Bobby Dison. Burial will be in Caledonia Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Crawford Templeton, George Breazeal, Elgie Q. Lowderback, Gerald Lowderback Kennedy, Dall Norris and Walter Tadlock.
