HORSLEY, Henderson B. - H.B. Horsley died at six o'clock this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J.W. Rogers, on Walnut street. Mr. Horsley had been in poor health all winter and his death was not a great surprise to the relatives and friends who knew he had been failing rapidly. Funeral services will be held at the Rogers residence Saturday morning, March 5th, at ten o'clock. Mr. Rogers is in Chicago and cannot reach home earlier. Funeral services will be conducted by the Masonic order. Mr. Horsley was one of the oldest and best known citizens of this part of the county and we regret our time and space is so limited. He played an important part in the early days of Rogers and has always stood very high in the esteem of his friends and neighbors. Henderson B. Horsley was born in Breckinridge county, Kentucky November 23, 1829 and died March 3, 1910, aged 80 years, 3 months and 8 days. He moved from Kentucky to Morgan county, Mo. just before the Civil War. Served in the Confederate army under Gen. Price and was in fights at Springfield and Prairie Grove. Was married to Nancy Ann German in Morgan county, Mo., 1865. Moved to Benton county in 1868 and has lived here ever since. Mrs. Horsley died a number of years ago. The children are Mrs. Fray Neil, Mrs. Lucy Rogers, Boardman and Beecher Horsley of Rogers and D.B. Horsley of Bentonville, present prosecuting attorney.

{from The Rogers Republican-Journal} Again death has claimed an old and highly respected citizen of this county. H.B. Horsley, who had been in poor health for several weeks, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John W. Rogers, Thursday morning. Funeral services were held from the home Saturday morning under Masonic auspices. At the time of his death Mr. Horsley was slightly over eighty years of age and until recently had enjoyed remarkably good health. He was a Kentuckian by birth, being a native of Breckenridge county. Preceding the civil war he moved to Missouri and during the great strife served under General Price in the Confederate army with distinction. At the close of the war he moved to Benton county and has since made his home here. He spent the greater portion of his residence in the country just west of Rogers on what is known as the Horsley homestead. His wife, whose maiden name was German, preceded Mr. Horsley to the grave some eight years ago. The deceased had been a useful citizen to his county and state. He had at all times directed his energies to the common good of his fellow citizens and in his death the community sustains a loss. Mr. Horsley is survived by the following children: Mrs. Fray Neil, Mrs. Lucy Rogers, Board and Beecher Horsley of Rogers and Attorney D.B. Horsley of Bentonville. A brother, L.L. Horsley of Maysville and a sister, Mrs. Emaline Farthing of Ardmore, Okla. also survive.

HORSLEY, Mrs. H.B. - (from The Rogers Democrat) Mrs. H.B. Horsley died last Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock at her home on North 5th street. She had been ill for some time with consumption and her death was expected. Funeral services were held at the residence on Saturday afternoon at two o'clock and were conducted by Rev. Thompson of the Christian church. Mrs. Horsley was born in Morgan county, Mo. in 1846. She was married to H.B. Horsley in 1866 and came to Benton county in 1868. She leaves a husband and five children - Mrs. Fray Woolsey and Mrs. Lucy S. Rogers, both of Rogers; D.B. Horsley of Bentonville and H.B. and W.B. Horsley, both of Rogers. Being among the oldest citizens of this section the deceased had a large circle of friends who will greatly regret her death. The Democrat extends its sympathy to the family.
