DURKEE, Bertha COPP - Mrs. Bertha Durkee, wife of F.M. Durkee, died at nine o'clock Monday morning at her home on West Poplar street. She had been ill with tuberculosis for several years and her strength had gradually failed until for several weeks her death had been almost daily expected. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at 2:30 at the Presbyterian church and were conducted by the pastor, Rev. T.E. McSpadden. Interment was in the Rogers cemetery. Miss Bertha Copp was a daughter of R.C. Copp and wife and was born in St. Louis May 28, 1876. She came to Rogers with her parents in the fall of 1887 and practically all her life since then was spent in Rogers save for a year or so spent in El Paso for the benefit of her health. She was a member of the Congregational church until it united with the Presbyterian church and then of the latter church and was a faithful worker in the Endeavor and Sunday school so long as her strength permitted. She was a graduate of Rogers Academy under Prof. Scroggs. She was married October 11, 1916 to F.M. Durkee, who survives her. They went to El Paso in the fall of 1917, returning to Rogers in May 1919 and since that time she had been confined to the house and most of the time to her bed. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. R.C. Copp; two sisters, Mrs. A.B. Stroud of Rogers and Mrs. J.C. McKee of Mena, who has been at her bedside much of the past year, and two brothers, Robt. Copp of Los Angeles, Calif. and Joe Copp of Little Rock.
