AGE NATIVE SON OF COUNTY DIED AT ROGERS MONDAY

Funeral services for Benjamin Sanford Beach, aged 81, widely known retried business man and farmer and native son of this county, who died at his suburban home at Rogers at 1 o’clock Monday afternoon, June 1st, 1936, after a long illness, were held Tuesday afternoon at the Baptist Church at Rogers, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. J.W. Royal. Burial was in the family lot in Barron cemetery southwest of Bentonville. Mr. Beach was born at Osage Mills, southwest of Bentonville, on Feb. 8th, 1855, the son of Elam J. and Rachel Gambill Beach, who came to Arkansas from Georgia. His father was a Confederate soldier, serving with an Arkansas regiment. Mr. Beach was educated in the rural schools in Arkansas and engaged in a merchandise business during his early manhood at Osage Mills, and operated a farm near here. He was married Dec. 22, 1880, to Miss Sallie Simmons of the same community. She died two years later after having given birth to a son, who died at the age of four years.

On Sept. 21, 1892, Mr. Beach was married to Miss Kate N. Neece of Brookfield, Mo. To this union a son, Harold was born. He died in infancy. Mr. and Mrs. Beach in later years reared a foster daughter who became the wife of Loyd Gregg of Springdale.

Mr. Beach was a former postmaster at Osage Mills. He was a mason and member of the Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, his daughter, Mrs. Loyd Gregg of Springdale, four sisters, Mrs. Count Hart, Inglewood, Calif.; Mrs. Sallie Breedlove, San Benito, Texas; Mrs. Eunice Wilkins, San Francisco, Calif.; Mrs. Rosa Carmiehael, Little Rock,; and one brother, Robert Lee Beach, Durham, Calif. Mrs. Carmiehael was with her brother the last several weeks of his illness, as was Mrs. Gregg.

Springdale-(Special) Funeral services for Mrs. Kate N. Beach, 92, who died yesterday afternoon in the Washington County Hospital in Fayetteville, will be conducted at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Callison-Sisco Funeral Home by the Rev. Earl Sherry.

The daughter of B. and Sarah McCormick Neece, she was born in Illinnis in 1860. She was a member the Baptist Church. Mrs. Beach moved to Springdale from Rogers 10 years ago and made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Loyd Gregg here.

She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Gregg; a sister, Mrs. M. E. Gambill of Maleolm, Ill.; and two grandchildren.

Burial will be in the Rogers cemetery. Pallbearers will be R. L. Vought, Donald Reed, Guy Wilson, Claud Jones, Frank Reed, and Hugh Sherry.
