PROCTOR, Geo. W. - Geo. W. Proctor died Tuesday night at seven o'clock at the home of his son, L.M. Proctor, on South Third St. Death was the result of Bright's disease and he had been sick only about ten days. He returned several weeks ago from Alabama where he had spent the winter with a sister whom he had not seen for thirty years. He was feeling fairly well but it is thought he caught cold and it brought on kidney trouble which resulted in his death. Funeral services were held from the residence Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock under the auspices of the Masons and interment was in the Rogers cemetery beside the grave of his wife who died two years ago. Rev. Harris conducted the services at the house. Mr. Proctor was born in London, England 76 years ago and came to this country with his parents at the age of two years. His younger days was spent in Michigan and Illinois and he was married in the latter state in 1860 to Miss Olive Beetle. To them were born five children, three of whom are now living: Mrs. W.C. Chynoweth, Macon, Ill.; Millard Proctor, Wheatland, Mo. and L.M. Proctor of Rogers. Mr. Proctor came to Rogers in 1888 and bought a farm southwest of town which he still owns. He was one of the first peach growers and at one time had a famous orchard. From 1900 until 1906 he lived at Rocky Ford, Colo. but then returned to Rogers. Mr. Proctor was one of our best citizens and was beloved by his entire large circle of friends. He was a hard worker but found time for the social intercourse of life that means so much to a community. His death will be regretted by all our people.
