CROSS, Ella Zann RINAMAN - Mrs. H.L. Cross, the wife of H.L. Cross, widely known Arkansas editor, died Tuesday afternoon, April 24th, 1928 at 5:45 at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Peel, in Fayetteville, corner Maple and Leverett streets, following a long illness. Ella Zann Rinaman was born at Jacobsport, Coshocton Co., Ohio on May 19th, 1853. She was the daughter of Isaiah and Isabelle Rinaman, the former a native of Coshocton Co., Ohio and the latter a native of Baltimore, Md. On September 25th, 1870 Ella Rinaman was married to H.L. Cross at Cameron, Mo., moving from Missouri to Bentonville in 1891 where Mr. Cross edited the Benton County Sun until 1914 at which time they moved to Little Rock where he devoted his entire time to the A. 0. U. W. of Arkansas as its Grand Recorder which office he has held since its organization. Harvey L. Cross first began his newspaper career in 1883 at Winston, Mo. where he owned and edited the Independent during the days of Frank James. The files of the Independent containing the trial of Frank James are in the office of the Benton County Herald. They give a complete history of the trial and history of the James boys after the Civil War. Mr. and Mrs. Cross celebrated their golden anniversary in Little Rock on Sept. 25th, 1920 and would have been married 58 years next September. The funeral service was held in Fayetteville Thursday morning at the residence of Mrs. Frank Peel and following the service the body was taken to the old home in Bentonville where interment was made in the mausoleum in the city cemetery at 11:30. She leaves surviving, besides her husband, a son, Don L. Cross of Little Rock; a daughter, Mrs. Frank Peel of Fayetteville; a sister, Mrs. Mary Black of Little Rock; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. One son, Victor I. Cross, died at Livingston, Montana in 1920.

Fayetteville, April 24.- Mrs. Ella Zann Rinaman Cross, wife of H.L. Cross, widely known Arkansas editor, died at the home of her daughter here at 5:45 Tuesday afternoon following a long illness. Funeral service will be held at the home here Thursday morning and the body will be taken to the old home at Bentonville for burial. Mrs. Cross was born at Jacobsport, Ohio May 19, 1853. She was married at Cameron, Mo., Sept. 25, 1870 to Harvey L. Cross and later moved to Bentonville where the family made its home for a number of years. Mr. Cross was editor of the Bentonville Sun for many years and has been grand recorder of the Ancient Order United Workmen since its organization in Arkansas over 30 years ago. Mrs. Cross is survived by her husband; a son, D. L. Cross of Little Rock; a daughter, Mrs. Zilla Peel of Fayetteville; a sister, Mrs. Mary Black of Little Rock; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
