Former Resident dies in Virginia Tuesday, March 28

Edna Hobbs McPhetridge, a long time resident of Bentonville, died at Blackstone, Va., on March 28, 1950. She was the widow of Roy F. McPhetridge, a prominent Bentonville citizen, who died a number of years ago. Daughter of Benjamin F. Hobbs and Lydia Walker Hobbs, she was born in Huntsville, Madison County, Ark., on June 19, 1878. When a child, she came with her parents to Bentonville where she lived until recent years when she moved to Blackstone, Va., to be near her daughters, Louise McPhetridge Thaden, aviatrix of national reputation, and Alice McPhetridge Inge, both of whom survive her. Her brother, Roscoe Hobbs, of St. Louise, and two sisters. Mrs. Bert Carney of Noble, Okla., and Mrs. Claude Strode of Little Rock, survive her. Her brother, Horace D. Hobbs, preceded her in death only a few weeks.

Mrs. McPhetridge was a member of the local Methodist Church. She was much interested in helping under privileged children and those in need.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Methodist Church here on Monday, April 3rd, at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Harold Eggensperger, assisted by Rev. Alf Eason, in charge of the services, and burial will be in Bentonville Mausoleum, under the direction of Callison-McKinney Funeral Home.
