LUDY, Nathaniel - Nathaniel Ludy died at his home in the southeast part of town on Saturday evening, February 13th. Death followed an illness of several months. The funeral services were held at the home at 3:30 on Sunday afternoon and were conducted by the Rev. Joe Tyson, pastor of the Nazarene church, assisted by the Rev. J.G. Threadgill. A large crowd of friends gathered to pay their last respects. Interment was made in the mausoleum immediately after the services. Mr. Ludy was born in Darke county, Ohio on September 27th, 1844. In this same country he grew into manhood and on January 7, 1877 he married Miss Fannie Mastion. His parents were natives of Maryland. About 49 years ago he came to Arkansas and located in the neighborhood which is now known as Mason Valley. Some years later Mr. Ludy moved to Bentonville where he has resided since that time. In 1864, while in Ohio, he joined the Union Army and was with a regiment from that state. He served in the army for 18 months. He was a member of the Methodist church but about two years ago he united with the Nazarene church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Fannie Ludy and by an adopted daughter, Miss Bertha Ludy, who is in school at Searcy, Ark. and who was unable to get home in time for the funeral.
