CALDWELL, Lavinia - Mrs. Lavinia Caldwell was born in Meigs county, Ohio on July 16, 1828. In her sixth year her parents moved to Athena county where she grew to womanhood. In the spring of 1846 she moved, in company with her parents, to Adams county, Ill. where during the following fall she was married to Henry F. Caldwell and returned with him to Ohio, living in that state till the spring of 1866 when they moved to Macon county, Mo. Four children were born to this union, the only son and one daughter dying in childhood. While living in Ohio Mrs. Caldwell united with the Presbyterian church but finding no church of this faith in her Missouri home she united with the Christian church of which she has made a loyal and consistent member until she fell asleep. Her husband died in 1891. In June 1914 she accompanied her daughter, Mrs. Edith A. Caldwell, to this city where she has remained in the home of her other surviving daughter, Mrs. M.E. Barnhardt. Her life was long and peaceful, she being in her 88th year and the end was in keeping, coming without suffering, just falling asleep. She was a great reader and student, the Bible being her chief delight. Until the very end she maintained her interest in current events, keeping abreast with the progress of the world's affairs. A Friend.
