MILITARY: Civil War, CSA, Private, Company F, (Captain Hunt's Company, 1st
Regiment, McBride's Brigade), 27th Arkansas Infantry Regiment, age 25 at
induction, mustered in June 13, 1862, enrolled July 31, 1862 at Camp Bragg,
Arkansas. Joined for duty May 21, 1862 at Locust Grove, Arkansas by W C
Kelley for a period of one year. Deserted July 21, 1862, arrested the 24th
of July 1862 and restored to the company on the 26th of July 1862 by
recommendation from Colonel. Dismounted July 29, 1862 as shown by
Certificate of muster exam. Appears on the company muster roll June 13 to
July 31, 1862.
Company F, Shaler's Regiment, Arkansas Infantry, appears on the company
muster roll for February 28, 1863 as absent without leave. March and April
1863 was present, last paid to February 28, 1868 by Major Gibbs. On the
company muster roll for July and August 1863.
Company F, Gaither's Regiment, Arkansas Infantry, absent without leave
since January 20, 1864.
Certificate of discharge exam: Head Doctor J M Shaver's report, Camden,
Arkansas, November 9, 1864, approved and respectfully forwarded, J M Riggs,
Lt Colonel report.
Office of Medical Exams Board, Camden, Arkansas, November 24th, 1863,
re-examined and recommend that the applicant be discharged, J M Pruitt,
Surgery and Pr- - st Medical Examining Board, Received (A & I G Office)
January 26, 1865.
ARMY of the CONFEDERATE STATES, Certificate of Disability for Discharge
Levi Moore, a private of Captain S H McLaughlin, Company F of the 27th
Regiment of Confederate States Arkansas Infantry was enlisted by W C Kelley
of the - - - - Regiment of - - - - -at Locust Grove on the 21st day of May
and thousand eight hundred and sixty two to serve one years. He was born in
- - - - in the state of Tennessee is 28 years of age, 5 feet, 8 inches
high, fair complexion, blue eyes, auburn hair, and by occupation when
enlisted, a farmer. During the last eighteen months said soldier has been
unfit for duty all of the time. Station: Camden, Arkansas, Date: October
31st, 1864, S H McLaughlin, Captain, Commanding Company. I certify that I
have examined the said Levi Moore of Captain S H McLaughlin's Company, and
find him incapable of performing the duties of a soldier because of
PHTHISIS PULENONALIS. He has been absent, sick ever since the Regiment has
been under my care. I further do share to my belief that he will not be
able to resume his duties or do any duty in the army during the present
over, if ever. P C Yates Surgeon. Discharged this 15th day of November 1864
at Camden, Arkansas, J M Riggs Lt Colonel Commanding the Post.
