Ralph Lewis Taylor Jr., 81, of Fayetteville, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2004, at home.

He was born May 3, 1922, a son of Ralph Lewis Taylor and Gertrude Ervin Taylor.

Mr. Taylor served his country during World War II. After leaving the military, he worked for a life insurance firm, World Book Encyclopedia for many years, later retiring from the Grolier Educational Corp. He was a golf and tennis enthusiast and a true Arkansas Razorback "Hog fan." He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Cockrill Taylor of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Chula and David Dickey of Fayetteville; one daughter, Teresa Taylor of Seattle, Wash.; one daughter, Christy Taylor of Anchorage, Alaska; one stepdaughter, Jennie Cockrill Stewart of Little Rock; one stepson, Jay Stewart of Bradenton, Fla.; one sister, Betty Walker of Fayetteville; five grandchildren, Kinsey, Christian, Daniel and Laura Dickey of Fayetteviile, and Murdock Jones of Little Rock.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Annette Williams and a brother, Jerry Taylor.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 27 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Fayetteville under the direction of Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville. Family and friends are invited to a coffee in the library of St. Paul's at 1 p.m. before the service.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery immediately following the memorial service.

Honorary pallbearers will be Pat Brinson, Dave Hallin, Jay Stewart, Sterling Cockrill, Jim Hunt, William A. Little III, Murdock Jones, Christian Dickey, Daniel Dickey, J. Mitchell Cockrill and Harry Grimes.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Pail's Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 1190, Fayetteville, 72702 or Circle of Life Hospice, 610 E. Emma Are, Springdale, 72764 or Arkansas Alzheimer's Programs and Services, 10411 W. Markham St., Suite 130, Little Rock, 72205-1409.
