Chester A. Acklin, 70, a resident of Norfork, died Monday at Calico Rock Medical Center. He was a saw miller and mechanic at Carico Garage. Mr. Acklin was of the Portestant faith and a World War II veteran. Mr. Acklin was born May 31, 1906 at Richville, MO, the son of the late Arthur and Dora Alexander Acklin. He moved here when he was three years old. He married the former Corgel C. Faught in Izard County on Sep 15, 1928. Mr. Acklin was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Richard (Buck); a sister, Sylvia and one granddaugther, Cheryl Acklin.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Emmit Dolan Acklin and Dennis D. Acklin, both of Norfork and Robert C. Acklin of Santa Fe, NM; four daugthers, Normalea Funkhouser and Dorene Lane, both of Norfork, Anna Mae (Fredia) Smithson of Calico Rock and Sandra Rosetta Jones of Wichita, KS; one brother, Thomas Acklin of Pine Bluff; six sisters, Mary Szegedt of Mt. Home, Ruby Walker of Flippin, Trilba Jones of Cotter, Eunalea Kirk of Tecumseh, MO, Dolly Siau of Boyce, LA and Ester Everage of Mt. View; 21 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at Galatia Church near Norfork officiated by Bro. Don Pfalser.
Pallbearers were Dewey Acklin, Jimmy Parnell, Howard Rand, Delman Parnell, Dwight Teegarden and Ross Alexander.
Interment took place at Galatia Cemetery, under the direction LaFevers Colonial Funeral Home in Mt. Home.
