ROGERS — Loyd H. Scudder, age 90, of Rogers, Ark., was called to be with his Lord and Savior on April 8, 2011. He was born Oct. 28, 1920 at Avoca, Ark. Loyd was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Scudder and Nellie Davis Scudder, and an infant daughter Mary Christine, and wives, Wanda and Betty, three brothers and three sisters. He has a twin sister still living in Rogers, Laura Dorey and husband Bud. He spent his whole life in the Rogers area.

Loyd was a Christian man who joined First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Rogers in 1941. He was married to Wanda May Frank, Feb. 6, 1943. They had a daughter, Betty Wood and husband John R., two grandchildren, John Loyd Wood, wife Dorthy, and daughter, Lindsey and Jean Cox and Children, Ashley and Cody Cox all of Rogers. Wanda passed away April 12, 1968.

Loyd was married to Betty Joe Henson on Sept. 7, 1968. She brought three children to the family, Donna Baker and husband Alan of Fayetteville, Carl Maxey of Rogers and Kay Presley and husband Allen of Missouri, five grandchildren, Tisha Fogle, Tammy Ralph, Virgle Self and wife Desi, Betty Helm and husband Ryan, Donna Goliday and husband Tim, 11 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Betty passed away Nov. 3, 2004. He also had numerous nieces and nephews from the extended family.

During his life, Loyd trapped animals, worked at Avoca cannery, worked at his Dad's sawmill and did numerous farm jobs to make a living for his ailing parents. As an adult, he drove a feed truck for Garrett's Feed Store, worked as a short order cook at a Rogers Diner, hauled and raised cattle, worked at Harris Baking Company, did custom combining and hay bailing, plowing with horses and also tractors in the local area. He was a trooper for the Arkansas State Police, worked at Munsingwear Hosiery company, worked as a carpenter building houses, owned and ran dump trucks and worked at Daisy BB gun factory.

Loyd was always helping other people. He enjoyed working with honey bees, bird hunting with his dog Wimpy, and fishing with his family.

He had a wonderful since of humor that his family enjoyed tremendously. His love was such a joy and was felt by all. He will be severely missed as he is enjoying his heavenly home.

Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 12 at 2 p.m. at Tucks Chapel Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday April 11 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Rogers. Services are under the direction of Callison-Lough Funeral Home of Rogers.

ROGERS — Betty Joe Scudder, 73, of Rogers died Nov, 3, 2004, in Rogers. She was born Aug. 16, 1931, in Rudy to Claud Henson and Odie Murray. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Rogers. She married Loyd Scudder, on Sept. 7, 1968.

Survivors include her husband, Loyd; one son, Carl Maxey of Gravette; three daughters, Betty Woods of Rogers, Donna S. Hicks of Gravette and Kay Presly of Missouri; one brother, Ricky Robinson of Rogers; one sister, Kathy Minyard of Texarkana; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Tucks Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Callison-Lough Funeral Service in Rogers,
