Norman Ellison Johnson of Wilburn, Arkansas, passed away August 31, 2009, at White County Medical Center in Searcy, Arkansas. He was 81 years old. Born August 29, 1928, in La Boca, Colorado, to Frank K. and Nellie S. Wade Johnson.
Norman was proceeded in death by both his parents; brothers, Richard, Don, Leroy, and Jimmy; sister, Edith; and one daughter-in-law, Diane Turney Johnson.

He is survived by his wife, Earlene Martin Johnson. They were married 52 years. two sons, Norman Dean Johnson of St. Louis, Missouri, and Brian Keith Johnson and wife, Brenda Simons Johnson of Wilburn, AR; two brothers, Edward Miller of New Mexico and Charles Miller of Colorado; four sisters, Mina Englehart of New Mexico, Nora Combs and Nellie Greer of Colorado, and Grace Lamb of Kentucky; four granddaughters, Carmen and husband Joshua Flowers, Rebecca and husband Joseph Simino, Kelly and Kristy Johnson; five great grandchildren, Kadence, Trista, Haley, Kaylee, and Bryce.

Norman grew up in Tucson, Arizona, where he accepted Jesus as his Savior in 1939. He was in the Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from the Southern Pacific Railroad. He loved playing games with his family, gardening and the great outdoors. He will surely be missed.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 3, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Olmstead Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 4, at 10:00 a.m. in the Olmstead Chapel with Rev. Tony Criswell officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery at Ida. Josh Flowers, Joe Simino, Steve Sparkman, Greg Hellman, Leo Long, and Bill Newman will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer is Thurman Sparkman. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home.
