Ernestine Cowell, 91, of Mountain View entered into rest on September 1, 2013.
She was born on August 7, 1922 at Gilbert, Arkansas to William Samuel Mays and Mary Ethel Johnson.
She was of the Baptist faith and a member of the First Baptist Church of Mountain View since 1951. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a retired assistant librarian of the Stone County Library.
She is survived by a daughter Mary Beth Brondhaver of Mountain View; a son Eddie Cowell of Mountain View; grandchildren, Shane Avey and wife Alicia of Mountain View, Jason Cowell and wife Andrea of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, Nicholas Cowell and Donovan Cowell both of Mountain View; great-grandchildren, Rhett Avey, Harley Avey, Casen Cowell, Caelyn Cowell all of Mountain View, and Aynslee Cowell of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Coy Cowell; a daughter-in-law, Teresa Cowell of Mountain View; a son-in-law, Steve Brondhaver of Mountain View; her parents; and sisters, Dora Robinson and Faye Diamond.
The family wishes to thank Amy Sims for her loving care and service to the family.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday September 4, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Mountain View, followed by internment at the Historic Cemetery of Mountain View, with Brother Ray Brown and Brother Kenny Kendrick officiating.
Pallbearers were Reese Tubbs, Mark Branscum, Fred Ward, Ulyess Woody, Jim McCarn, and Jerry Wilson. Honorary Pallbearers were Ronnie Risner, Gerald Ivy, Johnny Thomas, Mark Long, Dr. Andy and James Ivy.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her memory to the Stone County Library, or the Stone County Historical Society.
