BROWNING, Ada - Miss Ada Browning, aged 21, a former teacher in the rural schools of this county, took her own life early Monday morning at Gravette by drinking carbolic acid. Miss Browning had recently been conducting a cafe in Gravette in which she had the assistance of one or two of her sisters who are also well known as county teachers. According to the report coming here she drove up in front of the cafe, drinking the poison while still in her car, and after calling her sister to the door. It is reported also that Miss Browning is believed to have been worrying about a check transaction which occurred in her cafe in which it is said she was asked to write a five-dollar check for a customer but made the check for $500, the customer not knowing of it until the check was presented for payment. Funeral services for Miss Browning were held Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. T.J. Justice, pastor of the M.E. Church, South of Gravette and Centerton. Interment was made in the Coffelt cemetery. Miss Browning took the county teachers examination here the past year and taught the Cottage Grove school.
