Windell Royce Adams, 75, of Sherwood, Arkansas, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2011. He was born in Elba, Arkansas on Sunday, January 12, 1936 to Wilford Woodruff and Shirley Craft Adams. Windell was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Devon Adams; and his previous wife Joyce Adams.

Mr. Adams is survived by his wife, Freida Adams; one daughter, Mary Beth Rogers (J.P.) of Bryant, AR; and one step daughter, Vickie Arellanes (John), of Jacksonville, AR; one sister, Velma Lee Treece (Larry) of Ephrata, PA.; one brother, Leon W. Adams (Susie), of North Little Rock, Arkansas; grandchildren Lee Ann Stehley, John Adams Rogers and Eric Thomas Rogers; and one great-grandson, John Luke Stehley.

Before retiring Windell worked thirty years for the State of Arkansas under Winthrop Rockefeller, Frank White, and received special recognition by President Bill Clinton. Using his artisitic talents Windell was a very creative man, and was a self taught musician. As a young boy, Windell roamed the hills of Searcy County, and now he returns to those hills. He was a southern gentleman who had a kind word for everyone. His joy was not found in material things, but in the love and laughter of his family. He will be missed by all who knew him.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 300 Callaway, Sherwood, AR 72120. Tel. 501-835-3666.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M., Sunday, July 10, 2011 at Roller-Owens Home Funeral Home, 5509 J.F.K. Blvd, North Little Rock, AR.

A Celebration of Windell Adams’ life will be held from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. on Monday, July 11, 2011 at Roller-Coffman Funeral Home, Highway 65 North, in Marshall, Arkansas, (870-448-3338). A luncheon will follow at a local restaurant. Interment at Angora Cemetery, Leslie Arkansas.
