HARDY – Johnnie L. Gray, 74, of Cherokee Village died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002, at his home.
Born Aug. 9, 1928, in Hardy, he was the son of Cora Felts Gray and William Gray. He served 20 years in the regular Army during World War II and 24 years as a civilian for the Army and Air Force as a motion picture equipment specialist. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Highland.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel V. Gray; a son, Mark Gray of Cherokee Village; a daughter, Jeanne Thurow of Rockford, Ill.; a sister, Jeffie Wade of Modesto, Calif.; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Heath Funeral Home Oak Hill Chapel with full military honors. Mike Stanley will officiate. Burial will be in Yeager Cemetery at Evening Shade.
