MACKEY, Avis W. - Died at her home in east Bentonville Friday Nov. 22nd, Avis W. Mackey, the beloved wife of O.J. Mackey. Deceased was 63 years and six months old. While the cause of death was throat trouble with which she had been afflicted for some time, it was a sad surprise to the family and her many friends. The day of her death she seemed unusually well and had walked over to Crystal Springs and returned in a joyful mood and pleasant anticipations for the future. About 9 o'clock in the evening she suddenly began to strangle from her throat trouble and death relieved her suffering before medical assistance could be obtained. Deceased was a noble christian lady, a lovable companion and affectionate mother. A husband and several children are left to mourn her death. Funeral services were held at the Mackey residence in east Bentonville at 2 o'clock p.m. Monday, Nov. 25th, conducted by Rev. R.W. Reynolds of the M.E. church, who was her pastor. She was laid to rest in the city cemetery.
