Doyle Crownover, 80, of North Little Rock died Friday, November 18, 2005, at Lakewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born January 9, 1925, at the home of his parents, John Lester and Maggie Fullerton Crownover, on Harmony Mountain near Bee Branch in Van Buren County. He graduated from high school at Clinton in 1943. He worked in a munitions plant at Jacksonville during the waring days of World War II.

He completed enough college courses at Arkansas State Teachers College (now the University of Central Arkansas) to receive a teaching certificate and in 1947 began a 39- year career as an educator. He eventually completed bachelor’s, master’s and specialist degrees. He taught at Concord, Wilburn and Bee Branch Southside, then served as high school principal and superintendent at the Greenbrier School District.

In 1966, he became an administrator of the North Little Rock School District, and he hired hundreds of teachers over the next twenty years. He retired in 1986.

He was a member of Church of Christ.

Mr. Crownover is survived by his wife of 17 years, Billie Crownover; two sons, Alan Crownover of Scott and Garth Crownover of Old Hickory, Tennessee; two daughters, Andrea Sadler of Coosada, Alabama, and Gwen Moritz of North Little Rock; a stepdaughter, Carolyn Colonnese of Conway; a brother, Bobby Crownover of Little Rock; a sister, Deane Chambers of Sherwood; ten grandchildren; and five great – grandchildren.

A brother, Ardith Crownover of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and a sister, Elleen Maxwell of Sherwood, preceded him in death.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:30 A.M. Monday, November 21, at Roller Owens Funeral Home Chapel, 5509 JFK Blvd., North Little Rock.

The family will receive visitors from 2 until 5 P.M. on Sunday, November 20, at Roller Owens Funeral Home.

The family expresses sincere appreciation to the staff of Lakewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Arkansas Hospice.

Memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Disease group at Christ the King Church or to Arkansas Hospice.
