Preston S. Bottorff, 73, of Gould, died Thursday, December 21, 2000, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center at Pine Bluff. He was born February 13, 1927, at Vineyard, Arkansas, a son of the late Charley and Druila Garner Bottorff. He served in the US Navy and was in law enforcement for over 38 years, serving as an officer in Helena, Ark. And former chief at Marvell, Ark. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Theresa Ragsdale; and a step-grandson. Survivors include his wife, Vivian Patton Bottorff; on son, Sean Bottorff of Mountain Home; five daughters, Sharon Nuttle of Grove, Okla., June Collins of Sheridan, Ann Williams and Janice Jones, both of Hot Springs, and Gloria Bottorff of Forrest City; one stepson, Roy Patton of Lima, Okla.; five stepdaughters, Lorchid Birch of Tulsa, Okla., Tullaha Maxey of Moscow, Nita Cowen of Dumas, Nancy Dunn of Watson, and Lana McNeely of Friendswood, Tx.; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; 11 step-grandchilden and eight step great-grandchildren. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, at Victory Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Miller officiating. Burial was in Walnut Lake Cemetery at Dumas by Griffin Funeral Home at Dumas. Memorials may take the form of contributions to the donor’s favorite charity.
