His obituary states that he was a Veteran of World War I, and that he died in a Veterans Hospital in Wadsworth, Kansas.
The pictured part is just half of the gravestone. A similar marker is on the the other end for his wife with a vase in between the two markers.

Funeral services for Phillip Benjamin Schuh, 50, who died at the veterans hospital in Wadsworth, KS, Sunday of last week , were held Wednesday at the Galatia Cemetery with the Rev. Walter Hudson officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of the Adams Funeral Home.
Mr. Schuh as born in Chherkee, Iowa, in 1897. He was a veteran of Wold War I.
Survivors include four children;Phillip, Mary Joe, Nick and Carl all of the home; his father, Nick Schuh; a brother Harold Schuh; and a sister Josie Lfeb (?), all of CA.
