ADAMS, Mattie J. - Mrs. Mattie Adams, wife of J.A. Adams, was born Dec. 7th, 1853 in Carroll county, Tenn. and died in Texarkana May 19th, 1905. She was married to J.A. Adams Nov. 18th, 1871 and of this union were born nine children, five sons and four daughters, all of whom are living except one son. Mrs. Adams professed faith in Christ in the autumn of 1868 and joined the Baptist church in the summer of 1875. She was a faithful wife and a devoted mother and her husband and children unite in deeply mourning her death and in lovingly revering her memory. The remains were brought to this city and interred Sunday, May 21, 1905, the services being attended by a large concourse of sympathizing friends. W.E. Kimbrough.
