Gregory Brent Sutherland, 37, of Mandeville, Louisiana, formerly of Wolf Bayou, Arkansas died Monday, January 26, 2009 at his home.
He was born in Batesville on November 4, 1971 and was the son of Garry and Brenda (Babb) Sutherland. He was a 1990 graduate of Concord High School and was a U.S. Army National Guard veteran. Gregory was a heavy equipment operator.
He is survived by his wife, Karen (Wenrick) Sutherland of Mandeville; his parents, Garry and Brenda Sutherland of Wolf Bayou; Brother Garry Lynn Sutherland and his wife Angie of Wolf Bayou; Sister; Mayor Shelly Davis and her husband, Larry of Greer’s Ferry; two step-sons: Tracy Gross of Kentucky and Lane Polk of Mandeville; two step-daughters: Christian and Ruby Polk both of Mandeville; and his maternal grandmother, Vena Babb of Concord. Other survivors include nieces, Kaylyn Sutherland and Brittany Davis; nephews, Ethan Sutherland and Derek Davis and other nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Raleigh and Robbie Sutherland and his maternal grandfather, Owen Babb.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 2, 2009 at the Oak Grove Church of God in Drasco with James Dillard and Daniel Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow the services at Oak Grove Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 1, 2009 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Stacey Turner, Shawn Clark, Barry Spinks, Jamie Spinks, Brien Sutherland and David Cartwright. Honorary pallbearers are the Concord High School Class of 1990 and Coach Martin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital,
