*Teachers Are Held on Charge of First Degree Murder

Heber Springs, July 26.—Further investigation into the fatal shooting affair at Wolf Bayou school, 15 miles north of Heber Springs Wednesday morning in "which Jim Cannon and his father, Boge Cannon were killed results in the arrest of two other young men, in addition to Lelas Murphy, Who had surrendered, and all are held for the action of the grand Jury on first degree murder charges. The other two arrested are Guy Brady and Billy Murphy, brother of Lelas. Both boys teach schools In that part of the county.
All waived preliminary hearing and were placed under bonds of $5,000 each to await the action of the grand jury which is scheduled to meet in Septermber.
According to Sheriff Ghent and deputies, who went to the scene of the murder, the shooting took place in the woods some distance from the school, where the five men went to settle their difficulties that grew out of the attack on Mrs. Lelas Murphy, teacher of the Wolf Bayou school, by children of the Cannon family the day before. She attempted to punish one of the smaller Cannon children and other children of the. Cannon family are said to have attacked and beaten her.
Cannon, his son, Jim, Lelas Murphy and his brother Billy and Guy Brady met at the schoolhouse next day before the school session began. Officers say that they did not believe anyone but the five men were present when the shooting took place.
One of the officers said Jim Cannon carried an old-fashioned Colts- revolver in a holster thrust lnto his overalls, but evidently he had not used the weapon before he was killed. Officers believe Billy Murphy had part in the -shooting, as well As Lelas.
