*Obituary
Ava Kathleen Ward died June 5, 2011 in Jackson, Tenn. Born in Wolf Bayou on March 16, 1913, she was 98. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Otto and Rosa (Stuart) Ward.
Her parents sent her to the nearest high school of the time, which was Heber Springs, where she boarded while attending school. She graduated from Heber Springs High School in 1931. She taught school at Concord for a number of years in the late 1930s. She lived in Memphis most of her adult life and worked as a bookkeeper and accounting machine operator.
Preceding her in death were her parents, and sisters Freda Ward and Mildred (Ward) Reed.
Survivors are sisters Marion Martin and husband Edmund "Bud" Martin of Jackson, Tenn., and Helen (Ward) McCown of Wisconsin. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Interment was at Oak Grove Cemetery in Wolf Bayou.
