Mrs. Lila V. Hammond, 77, Fayetteville, died July 28 in Washington Regional Medical Center. Born Nov. 11, 1900, at Concordia, Kan., she was the daughter of James and Cora Cain Barker and a member of Bethel Heights Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Dick Hammond and Bob Hammond of Fayetteville; five daughters, Mrs. Inaphena McAdoo of West Fork, Mrs. Lorene McDougal of Benton, Mrs. Bonnie Stamps and Mrs. Donna Leming of Springdale and Mrs. Joann Wood of Greenland; one brother, Albert Barker of Oswego, Kan.; three sisters, Mrs. Edna Vance of Oswego, Kan., Mrs. Tena Alexander and Mrs. Angie Slice of California; 25 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Nelson Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with the Rev. Don Chesher officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Comfort Cemetery under the direction of Nelson.

Clarence Alex Hammond, 66, of 902 Berry St., died in a local hospital Saturday. He was born June 18, 1900 in Hardy, the son of Will and Miranda Hall Hammond and was a bricklayer, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and had served as president of the Bricklayers Local.

Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Lilla V. Barker Hammond of the home; five daughters, Mrs. Wathena McAdoo and Mrs. Joan Woods both of West Fork, Mrs. Lorene McDougal of Malvern, Mrs. Bonnie Stamps of Springdale and Mrs. Donna Decker of Fayetteville; three sons, Buck, Dick and Bob all of Fayetteville; one brother, Ben of Fayetteville; 24 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Comfort Community Church with burial in Mount Comfort Cemetery under direction of Nelson's Funeral Home.
