Rogers Democrat

FOSTER, Sam L. - Sam L. Foster died Friday afternoon at his home in the south part of town after an illness of some length. Funeral services were held at the residence Sunday afternoon at two o'clock and were conducted by Rev. Ross, a comrade in the G.A.R. Mr. Foster was sixty-four years old, having been born in 1845 in Green County, Tenn. He was married May 7, 1865 to Miss Mary Cox at Neosho, Mo. and to them were born ten children, six of whom are still living; Mrs. W.S. Atkisson, Elm Springs; Mrs. S.L. Culbreath, Mrs. W.O. Bagley, Mrs. Chas. Sparling, St. John, Kansas; Mrs. Harlan Stroud, Grove, Okla. and Miss Patsy Foster of Rogers. The family came to Rogers the year after the town was started and the deceased was well known to most of our people. He had served four years in the Union army during the Civil War and was an active member of the local order of the G.A.R. We extend our sympathy to the bereaved.
