Dr. W. H. H. Lackey wrote a newspaper article datelined IUKA, AR., AUG. 2, 1894, about J. E. "Ed" Wolf's untimely death. The clipping has been preserved and copied. The newspaper's name is not included, but it was probably The Baxter County Citizen, Mountain Home. One paragraph from the article follows:
J. E. Wolf hitched up his team to haul rock to wall up a cellar. After pulling till about 10 o'clock he took out his team and got on one of horses, intending as is supposed to take the team to water. The horse became frightened and threw him off. His foot hung in one of the chains and the horse ran about 300 yards dragging his body over logs and rocks, killing him instantly. His left arm was broken in two places, his neck and back were broken, the right leg was broken, all of the ribs on the right side, in fact nearly every bone in the body was broken.
