Donald Eugene Bass, 95, of Rogers died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, at his home.

He was born July 12, 1911, inChicago, Ill., to the late Peter Bass and Anonet Prince Bass.

He was the first employee of the Testor Corp. and helped develop it into a multinational corporation. His mechanical genius ranged from powering a 3-wheeled car with a washing machine engine to inventing a balsa wood slicer that revolutionized the balsa processing industry. His love of water led him to design and build several boats for family enjoyment, the last one of which, a trimaran sailboat, still sails the waters of Beaver Lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 69 years, Priscilla Stroh Bass and one brother, Willard Bass.

Survivors include one sister, Carolyn O'Berne of Riverdale, N.J.; two daughters, Pamela Jean Bowers of Normal, Ill., and Kathleen Ray Cole of Wellsville, Mo.; three grandchildren, Amy Pawlik, Rebecca Dean and Kristina Rowe; one great-grandaughter, Kendra Mackey.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26 at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers with the Rev. Dave Hunter officiating.

Burial will be in Rogers Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers.
