Reverend A.C. Rye, 87, of Russellville, died March 18, 2006, in Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Brother Rye, as he was known to many, was a retired minister, and was born in the Mill Creek Community of Pope County , Arkansas , on December 1, 1918 to S. B. and Mollie Kendrick Rye. He was licensed in 1937 and ordained in 1956 as an Assemblies of God minister. His ministry spanned more than 70 years and included evangelistic work in Louisiana, California, Arizona, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Arkansas. Additionally, he served as full-time pastor of churches including Crossett, Moreland, Liberty Grove, Pottsville, Flat Rock, Alleene and Damascus, among others. He was also a carpenter, painter, and spent several years working for Pope County in road maintenance and construction.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, one sister and one son, Dr. Donald Ray Rye. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Vesta Massey Rye, and four children, Glen and wife Louise of Russellville, Alton and wife Anne of Fort Worth, Texas, Wanda and husband Reverend Bob Perry of Little Rock, Charles and wife Ann of Arkadelphia, daughter-in-law Shelia Jones Rye of Fayetteville, two sisters, Shirley Rye Lemley and Nina Rye Collins and two brothers, Samuel M. ("Bus") Rye and James Rye. He is also survived by four granddaughters, Carrie Rye Banks of Fayetteville, Tonia Rye Smith of Fayetteville, Melissa Rye of Dallas, Texas, and Ashley Perry Hickman of Springdale; six grandsons, Eric Rye of Tallahassee, Florida, Joey King of Chicago, Illinois, Hays Rye of Princeton, New Jersey, Alan Perry of Maumelle, Andrew Rye of Naperville, Illinois, and David Rye of Arkadelphia; two great-granddaughters, Peri and Peyton Hickman, and four great-grandsons, Burkemon Banks, Hayden Rye, Sidney Perry, and Henry Rye.

The funeral service will be held at the First Assembly of God in Russellville at 2 PM, on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 with entombment at the Rest Haven Memorial Park Mausoleum by Shinn Funeral Service in Russellville.

Pallbearers: Alan Perry, Hays Rye, Reverend Jeff Hickman, Andrew Rye, David Rye, and Sidney Perry. Honorary pallbearers: Marshall Rye, Paul Rye, Phillip Rye, Dr. Mitch Collins, Reverend Greg Lemley, Dr. Robert Thurlby, and all ministers of Section 6 of the Arkansas Assemblies of God.

The family requests that donations in lieu of flowers be made to the Boys and Girls Missionary Crusade or the general fund of First Assembly of God, London, Arkansas, or to Hillcrest Children's Home in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Vesta Imogene Massey Rye, 91, of Russellville, died Monday, December 19, 2011, at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center. She was born on October 30, 1920, to Perry Richard and Laura Ellen Andrews Massey in the Robertsville Community in Conway County.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Rev. A. C. Rye, a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Donald and Shelia Rye, a brother and three sisters.
Survivors include three sons, Glen (Louise) of Russellville, Alton (Anne) of Bedford, TX, and Dr. Charles (Dr. Ann) of Little Rock; a daughter, Wanda (Rev. Bob) Perry of Little Rock; six grandsons and four granddaughters, Alan (Julian) Perry of Maumelle, Dr. Hays (Dr. Chavella) Rye of College Station, TX, Eric (Anne) Rye of Tallahassee, FL, Joey King (fiancée Kasey) of Chicago, IL, Andrew (Jill) Rye of Naperville, IL, David (Beth) Rye of Farmington, Dr. Carrie Rye of Fayetteville, Melissa Rye of Denver, CO, Tonia (Leo) Smith of Fayetteville, and Ashley (Jeff) Hickman of Owasso, OK; six great-grandsons and four great-granddaughters, Sidney Perry, Burkemon Rye Banks, Hayden, Henry, Evan, and Charles Rye, Peri and Peyton Hickman, Molly Cate Rye, and Janna Perry-Holloway.
Rev. and Mrs. Rye served together in ministry and pastored a number of Assemblies of God churches throughout Arkansas. She was an active member of the London Assembly of God and a retired employee of the Russellville Public School District. She was known for her love of gospel music (a passion that she passed on to her children) and sang in many churches throughout her lifetime. She was an avid gardener and had a talent for cooking and preserving delicious food. Her nurturing ways endeared her to many people, and she will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2011, at the First Assembly of God with entombment in the Rest Haven Memorial Park mausoleum, by Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
Active pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.
