Oscar Edward Compton age 92 passed away August 28, 2011 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born August 13, 1919 in Nubin Ridge, Arkansas to Arthur and Pearlie Compton. He was a veteran of the United States Army; in 1941 to 1945 he served in France and Germany and was a messenger Sergeant and a messenger between company commanders and front lines. He became a tech Sergeant in rank, and in 1941 he was assigned to the 6th RCN Troop and Troop A 30th Calvary RCN SQ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Pearl Compton, one brother, Johnny T. Compton, (killed in Korea), two sisters, Luceal Smith and Ann McCurry.

He is survived by his daughters, Pat Smith and husband Larry of Forrest City, AR., Julia Lee of Stuttgart, AR, Marcia Earhart and husband Dennis of White Hall, AR and Diana Holland of Greenbrier, AR, four brothers, Arthur Compton Jr. of Heber Springs, AR, William Compton of Heber Springs, AR, Tomie Compton of Saucier, Mississippi, Ray Compton of Heber Springs, AR, sister-in-laws, Juanita, Ann Igou, Opal, and Rose, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held August 30, 2011 at the Heber Springs Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m.

A Funeral Service will be August 31, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Heber Springs Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Higden McLahaney Cemetery.
