Robert J. Davis, 77, of Swifton, died Tuesday at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center. He was a retired farmer, carpenter and gardener, and was a veteran of the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Swifton.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Frances Ann Davis.
Survivors include his wife, Arline Davis of the home; one daughter, Victoria V. Smithee of Jonesboro; three sons, Robert Charles Davis of Pocahontas, James Shurman Davis of Tuckerman and William Franklin Davis of Jonesboro; one brother, Lonnie Lee Gosha of Hoxie; two sisters, Marie Mann of Saffell and Bonnie Mae Graham of Clover Bend; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Funeral services will be Friday afternoon at 2 in the chapel of Bryan Funeral Home of Hoxie, with Tim Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Arnold Cemetery near Swifton.
Active pallbearers will be Roy "Smokey" Runyan Jr., Luther Jones, Jerald Cozart, Frank Marshal, Harry Wright and LoBoyd Duncan.
Roy Runyan Sr. will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 this evening at the funeral home.
