Ricardo Macias Rangel was a passenger in a 1999 Pontiac Firebird that hit a concrete lane divider on the Norfork Dam, and the car overturned several times. Both occupants were thrown from the vehicle and killed. Rangel was thrown on the highway while the driver was tossed over the dam into the North Fork River bed which was 216 below.

Services for 46-year-old Ricardo Macias Rangel of Salesville will be at 2PM Monday at Lone Rock Baptist Church with the Rev. Doug Huskey officiating. Mr. Rangel died Wednesday (Sep 20, 20000)at Norfork.
He was born Sep 10, 1954, at San Angelo, Texas, to Ismael and Junita Mrcias Rangel. He was a manager and guide at Rainbow Trout Resort. He had lived in Salesville since 1975, moving from Colorado. Mr. Rangel collected arrowheads, enjoyed time with his dog, Star and was an avid hunter. He was a Catholic.
He is survived by a daughter, Shaila Thomas and husband, Clayton, of Salesville; three sons, Israel Rangel of Norfork and Kris Rangel and Amos Rangel both of Missouri; his mother, Janie Rangel of Lamar, Colorado; a brother, Raymond Rangel of Lamar; two sisters, Donna Rangel and Mitch of Clinton, NC and Diana Rangel and Cruz of Lamar; four grandchildren; his paternal grandmother, Abelina Vgalde of Mereta, Texas; his maternal grandmother Amelia Macias of Fresno, CA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation will be from 5-8PM Sunday at Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Galatia Cemetery in Norfork.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Eason, Ray Dickerson, Paul Storm, Frankie Cox, Erik Rangel and Evaristo Ugalde.
Memorials may be made to the Lone Rock Baptist Church.
Arrangements are by Kirby-Boaz Funeral Directors.
