Jimmie Herman Rothe, of Delaplaine, passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2007, at the age of 69. He was born on March 29, 1938, to Clyde Rothe, Sr. and Opal Butler Rothe. He graduated from Delaplaine High School in 1956, and married his high school sweetheart, Bonnie Jean Coe on April 13, 1957.
Jimmie was a devoted member of the Evening Star Church of Christ. He was a licensed pilot, enjoyed volunteering his time and talents for the Children's Home of Paragould, and loved spending time with his family and friends. He retired in 2000 after working in many different fields throughout his career.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Bonnie Rothe; his father, Clyde Rothe, Sr.; and brothers, Marion and Mark Rothe.
Jimmie is survived by his mother, Opal Rothe of Delaplaine; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wesley and Rise Rothe of Jonesboro, and Phillip and Amy Rothe of Delaplaine; six grandchildren, Staci Rothe, Katie Rothe, Derek Rothe, Maggie Rothe, Karena Barlow, and Luke Barlow; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Max and Christine Rothe of Searcy, Clyde Jr. and Cathy Rothe of Paragould, and Coleman and Sharon Rothe of Paragould; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol and Don Rawls of Paragould, Cindy and Rob Barnett of Paragould, Brenda Shrewsbury of Detroit, Mich., and June and Larry Cameron of Atlantic Beach, Fla.; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m., Friday at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould. Services will be held at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday, August 18, at 10 a.m., with Bud Whitmire and L.R. Smith officiating. Interment will be at Morrow Cemetery in Beech Grove.
Serving as pallbearers are Kenneth White, Kent McBroom, James Compton, Stan Sullinger, Joe Stayton, and Gary Cupp. Honorary pallbearers include Emory Clifton, Mac Latham, Bill Lovelady, Charles McClellan, Austin White, and James Shipman.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials be sent to Children's Homes of Paragould, Crowley's Ridge Academy, or India Missions Fund, c/o Central Church of Christ, 711 N 2nd St., Lufkin, Texas 75901.
Bonnie Jean Coe Rothe
DELAPLAINE - Bonnie Jean Rothe, 63, of Delaplaine, died Saturday, May 12, at Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould. Born in Delaplaine, she was a homemaker and member of Evening Star Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmie Rothe of the home; two sons, Wesley Rothe of Jonesboro and Phillip Rothe of Delaplaine; her mother, Ola Mae Coe of Delaplaine; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Evening Star Church of Christ, with Bud Whitmire and Walter Lumpkin officiating. Burial will follow in Morrow Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.
Lasting memorials may be made to Paragould Children's Home.
